Fire tab industry veteran Greeley as top executive
Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Fire appointed sports industry veteran Dave Greeley as President, the Major League Soccer club announced on Tuesday.
Greeley will oversee the day-to-day business operations and will be the top Fire executive leading the strategic planning and overall management of the franchise and its home stadium, Toyota Park.
"Dave has a wealth of sports industry knowledge and experience," said Andell Sports Group Managing Director Javier Leon, who oversees the franchise for Fire owner Andrew Hauptman. "We are fortunate to have the opportunity to bring such a talented executive to the Chicago Fire. As the Fire celebrates its 10th anniversary of Chicago soccer, I am confident he will lead the franchise into a new exciting chapter filled with success on and off the field." Greeley will manage the Fire staff, team affairs, marketing, sales and sponsorships, stadium operations, and work with MLS on related business matters.
He will also work closely with Fire soccer operations, led by technical director Frank Klopas and coach Denis Hamlett.
"I am excited to be joining the Chicago Fire as they are clearly a dominant franchise in Major League Soccer," Greeley said. "I am looking forward to working with everyone in the entire Fire organization, as well as ownership, to elevate the Fire to become even more successful." Greeley has 20 years of experience in the sports industry, including the last eight years as a senior sports executive in Chicago.
He has held various marketing and operational posts with top agencies and professional sports franchises, including executive positions with the National Football League and National Basketball Association.
