  • Johnson crashes early at Texas

Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Points leader Jimmie Johnson remains in the garage for repairs after crashing on the third lap in Sunday's Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Johnson, who is attempting to win his unprecedented fourth straight Sprint Cup Series championship, sustained major damage to the front end of his No.48 Chevrolet.

David Reutimann made slight contact with Sam Hornish Jr., and Hornish then bumped Johnson, sending him into the inside retaining wall along the backstretch.

Crew members from Johnson's team are replacing both the front and rear suspension, as well as the drive shaft, in hopes of getting him back on the track.

Johnson entered the third-to-last race of the season with a 184-point lead.
