  • Leafs D Kaberle earns first star honors, Rinne, Nabokov get nods

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Tomas Kaberle, Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne and San Jose Sharks netminder Evgeni Nabokov were named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending November 1.

Kaberle gained top honors by leading the NHL in scoring for the week with 12 points on two goals and 10 assists. The Czech backliner recorded a career-best five points (1G, 4A) in a 6-3 win at Anaheim on October 26, then posted a goal and three helpers in the Leafs' 5-4 shootout setback at Montreal last Saturday.

Over an 11-year career, all with Toronto, Kaberle now ranks second in franchise history to Tim Horton in points from a defenseman with 450.

Rinne earned the second star by going 3-0-0 with an 0.76 goals-against average and one shutout for Nashville. His top performance of the week came on October 29, stopping all 22 shots he faced in a 2-0 blanking of Chicago.

Nabokov picked up the third star with a 3-0-0 record and 0.97 goals-against mark as the Sharks ascended to the Pacific Division lead. Over three starts against Los Angeles, Colorado and Carolina, he did not allow more than one goal, totaling 77 saves over the week.
