  • Browns put TE Heiden, P Zastudil on IR

Berea, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns have placed tight end Steve Heiden and punter Dave Zastudil on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday.

Heiden will miss the rest of the season because of an ankle injury. In seven games (six starts) this season, his 11th in the league, the tight end caught 10 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, a knee injury forced Zastudil to IR.

In eight games in 2009, Zastudil averaged 44.7 yards on 49 punts, including 25 that landed inside the 20-yard line.

"Steve and Dave worked extremely hard this year, and you don't like to see anyone's season end prematurely because of an injury," said Browns head coach Eric Mangini. "They both provided a veteran presence that will not be easy to replace." While Heiden and Zastudil were placed on injured reserve, the Browns claimed wide receiver Jake Allen off waivers from Green Bay and linebacker Arnold Harrison off waivers from Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
