Edmonton's Whitlock heads CFL Players of the Week
Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Edmonton running back Arkee Whitlock, Montreal kicker Damon Duval and Saskatchewan defensive end John Chick and wide receiver Andy Fantuz have been selected as the CFL's top performers for the 19th and final week of the regular season.
Whitlock claimed Offensive Player of the Week honors after he finished off his rookie campaign by rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in the Eskimos' 45-13 victory over British Columbia.
Chick led the Roughriders with a season-high six tackles and one sack in the team's win over Calgary to garner defensive accolades.
Duval, who set a new CFL record for points in a season with 242, took home the special teams award after making all seven of his field goal attempts as Montreal defeated the lowly Argonauts.
Rounding out the weekly winners was Fantuz, who was recognized as the top Canadian player. The Chatham, Ontario native made a career-high 12 receptions for 123 yards, the second time this season he caught 10 or more passes in a game.
