• Tyson detained after altercation with photographer at LAX

  
  

  Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson was detained Wednesday afternoon after reportedly hitting a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.

  The Los Angeles Times reported the incident occurred at Terminal 7. A source told the newspaper that Tyson and the photographer traded accusations about the altercation.

  The paper reports the photographer told investigators that Tyson punched him in the face and tried to take the film from his camera.

  Tyson was taken to the LA Police Department's 77th Street Division where he was booked on suspicion of battery and released.

  The photographer was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital with injuries to his face.

  The 43-year-old Tyson retired from competitive boxing in 2005.
