  • Smith's last-second slam gives Hawks seventh straight win


    Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Josh Smith skied to slam home Mike Bibby's missed jump shot with 0.7 seconds left to give the Hawks their seventh straight win, 105-103, over the Houston Rockets at Philips Arena.

    Smith played less than a minute in the fourth quarter due to foul trouble but was inserted into the game with 9.9 seconds left. Simultaneously, Carl Landry also came on for Houston and drew a foul on Al Horford under the cylinder with five seconds on the clock. He made both to tie the game at 103 and set up the Hawks' heroics.

    Marvin Williams went for a game-best 29 points on 13-of-19 shooting while bringing down nine rebounds for Southeast Division-leading Atlanta, which improved to 7-0 at home this season in the last of a four-game homestand.

    Jamal Crawford dropped 21 points and Joe Johnson scored 19 with nine assists and six boards. Horford checked in with 17 points and six rebounds in the win.

    Luis Scola posted 17 points and 10 rebounds and Landry went for 18 and eight for the Rockets, who have alternated wins and losses over their last 10 games.

    Trevor Ariza notched 16 points and secured eight boards while Aaron Brooks and David Andersen scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.
