COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Onuaku suffered the injury in the team's loss to Georgetown in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals. It is unknown whether he will be available to play should the top-seeded Orange advance to the Sweet 16, where they would face Butler.

The 22-year-old posted averages of 10.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest this season.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Denis Clemente added 19 points, and Curtis Kelly scored 10 for the second- seeded Wildcats (28-7), who advanced to Salt Lake City to play in the Sweet 16 against the winner of Sunday's game between third seed Pittsburgh and sixth seed Xavier.

Pullen, who made all 11 of his foul shots, went 7-of-12 from three-point range.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Miller, who scored 16 in the first half, went 7-of-9 from the field for the Wildcats (34-2), who avoided the upset bug on a day full of them by shooting a robust 60.3 percent from the field.

Kentucky will next take on either Wisconsin or Cornell in the East Regional Semifinals after winning an NCAA Tournament game for the 100th time in its storied history.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Allen, who is Michigan State's top three-point shooter at 40 percent accuracy, was hurt with just over five minutes remaining in the team's first-round win over New Mexico State. He went down to the ground in clear pain, hobbled to the bench and did not return.

"He didn't work out today," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. "Not that that's the end of the world. But he's really hour to hour. I guess what they're classifying as a sprained arch.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Matthew Bryan-Amaning added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies (26-9), who have won nine in a row and are 14-2 since January 26. Isaiah Thomas made four three-pointers on his way to 15 points while dishing out seven assists.

Elston Turner had 10 points off the bench for Washington, which knocked off sixth-seeded Marquette by an 80-78 final in the first round on Thursday.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • He replaces Bob Nash, who was fired during March 8.

"I'm glad to welcome Gib Arnold as the 19th head coach of UH men's basketball," director of athletics Jim Donovan said. "I charged the committee with helping me find someone who was 'hungry', had extensive recruiting experience and a plan specific for UH. Also someone with a clear vision for the future of our basketball program and could fit into Hawaii's unique culture." Arnold spent the last five seasons as an assistant at USC and helped the Trojans reach the NCAA Tournament a record three straight seasons. He was instrumental in the recruiting of now-NBA standouts DeMar DeRozan and Taj Gibson, who were both chosen in the first round of the 2009 draft.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Josh Lomers had 14 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks while Tweety Carter added 12 points and eight assists for the Bears (27-7), who will play No. 10 seed Saint Mary's in the next round as the Gaels shocked second- seeded Villanova earlier on Saturday. Baylor has never advanced past the Sweet 16 and is into the third round for the first time since 1950 when the event featured just eight schools.

Frank Hassell had 15 points and eight rebounds, Gerald Lee added 15 points, while Kent Bazemore donated 13 points and seven assists for the Monarchs (27-9), who defeated Notre Dame in the opening round of the tournament.

"I thought the fact that we just didn't let the game get too fast in transition was a key. We had the advantage inside. We got the ball inside with points in the paint," said Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Matt Howard hit 1-of-2 free throws with 17.5 seconds remaining to give the Bulldogs a 54-52 lead. The Racers didn't call timeout and swung the ball to Isaiah Canaan at the top of the key.

Canaan dribbled precious seconds off the clock before deciding to give the ball up to first-round hero Danero Thomas near halfcourt.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Samhan added seven rebounds and recorded a big block in the final minute for Saint Mary's (28-5), which had little trouble getting past Richmond on Thursday for its first NCAA Tournament victory in 51 years.

Mickey McConnell chipped in 15 points, including a go-ahead, banked three- pointer down the stretch, as the Gaels earned back-to-back wins in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • After just one round it is hard to call any team a Cinderella, but considering Ohio's situation, the label is certainly fitting. As just the No.9 seed, the Bobcats won four straight games to claim the Mid-American Conference Tournament and their spot in the Big Dance. That alone was a remarkable feat considering the team went just 7-9 in conference play during the regular season. Ohio continued its magical run on Thursday, as it knocked off third- seeded Georgetown, 97-83, in convincing fashion. It was quite a performance from the Bobcats, who won their first NCAA Tournament game since 1983.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • The Jayhawks have won 33 of 35 games this season, including a sweep of the Big 12 regular season and tourney titles, as the program landed the No.1 overall seed for the Big Dance. Kansas showed it was deserving of the top seed by bouncing 16th-seeded Lehigh, 90-74, in first-round action on Thursday. It marked the sixth win in a row for the Jayhawks, who are moving on to the second round for the 25th time in the last 27 years. A win this evening would push Kansas through to the Sweet 16 for the fourth consecutive season and the 27th time in school history.

The Panthers have an impressive resume of their own, having won 29 games and both the Missouri Valley

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • The Gaels collected their first NCAA Tournament victory in 51 years when they defeated Richmond, 80-71, in the first round on Thursday. It was just the second victory for the Gaels in the Big Dance, as the team is now 2-5 all-time in this event. Saint Mary's earned a spot in its sixth NCAA Tournament by posting a 26-5 mark during the season, while also claiming the West Coast Conference Tournament title.

The Wildcats had a bit of a scare in the first round, but the team was eventually able to get past Robert Morris in overtime, 73-70. It was the third straight year Villanova has won its first round game, and the team is now an impressive 49-30 all-time in this event. The Wildcats earned the second seed in the South Region by ent

Washington showed tremendous heart and toughness to knock off sixth-seeded Marquette by an 80-78 final two days ago. The program had lost its previous 10 games against Big East Conference foes, making the triumph over the Golden Eagles all the more impressive. The Huskies earned an automatic bid to this NCAA Tournament by winning the Pac-10 Conference Tournament title with three consecutive victories last week. They are 25-9 overall and are making their 14th appearance in the "Big Dance", posting a 15-15 record in their previous showings.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • The winner of this contest moves on to the "Sweet 16" to face either 12th- seeded Cornell or fourth-seeded Wisconsin.

In one of many dramatic first-round games, Wake Forest beat Texas by an 81-80 final in overtime on Thursday. The game-winning jumper came with just 1.3 seconds remaining, and it will be interesting to see how much physical and emotional energy Wake carries into this evening's affair. The squad is making its 22nd all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and second in a row under third- year head coach Dino Gaudio. The Demon Deacons, who are 28-21 at this event, earned an at-large bid after compiling a 19-10 record through the close of the ACC Tournament.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Murray State, the 13th seed in the West Regional, whipped up on the rest of the Ohio Valley Conference this season and used that experience to take care of Vanderbilt on Thursday afternoon. In what was a tight game throughout, the Racers made their way into the second round of the tourney when Danero Thomas knocked down a jumper at the buzzer to give the squad a thrilling 66-65 win over the Commodores. The win was just the second all-time in 15 tries in the tournament for MSU and the second in five all-time meetings with Vandy.

As for the fifth-seeded Bulldogs, a squad that brings back all five starters from a year ago, they managed to knot their record in the tournament at an

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • The seventh-seeded Cougars, now 12-27 in the tournament through 24 appearances, finally snapped a seven-game slide in the event with their 99-92 double-overtime win against the Florida Gators on Thursday. Now 8-17 in first- round games, BYU has not advanced beyond the second round since 1981 when the squad, then seeded sixth, topped Princeton, UCLA and Notre Dame before bowing to Ralph Sampson and the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers in the regional finals.

Meanwhile, the second-seeded Wildcats pushed their record to 29-27 in the tournament as they easily handled North Texas out of the Sun Belt Conference, with an 82-62 victory two days ago. The win, the sixth in seven tries versus the Mean Green, also evene

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Williams, who came in averaging 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, recorded his first 20-point game of the season for the Terps (24-8), who will take on last year's NCAA runner-up Michigan State in the second round on Sunday. Landon Milbourne added 19 points and seven rebounds in the win.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • Scoop Jardine added 14 points, Rick Jackson 12 and Andy Rautins contributed 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists as Syracuse buried 54.5 percent of its shots, and without fifth-year senior starting swingnman Arinze Onuaku.

"We're going to move forward, (and) hopefully we're going to be healthy," said Spartans head coach Tom Izzo. "Whoever we face, we're going to try to maintain that togetherness that I've been searching for all year." Last year's NCAA Tournament runner-up, the Spartans held a 13-point lead at halftime but nearly gave it away. MSU's defense buckled down late, holding the Aggies t
