  • Oregon Ducks vs. Arizona Wildcats 8:00 ET

Posted on Fri, 20 Nov 2009 00:00:00 GMT by North Shore Sports, INC

A trip to the Rose Bowl could be on the line in Tucson Saturday night, where Bookmaker customers will get their chance to sink their teeth into a college football betting affair between the Oregon Ducks (8-2, 7-3 ATS) and the Arizona Wildcats (6-3, 4-5 ATS).

The Ducks come into this match at 6-1 in conference play, and they know that victories against Arizona and Oregon State will send them to Pasadena for a date with the Ohio State Buckeyes come January 1st. Arizona controlled its own destiny until it lost to Cal last weekend, and will now most likely have to win its L/3 games of the season and get some help in order to go to the Rose Bowl.

Bookmaker Sportsbook currently has the visiting Ducks tagged as 5.5-point road favorites with the game ‘total’ set at 60-points.

Does anyone realize just how good Oregon's offense has been this season? Since getting dominated by Boise State's defense in the opening weekend of the NCAA football gambling season, the Ducks have rolled to at least 38 points in seven of their nine games; averaging 40.3 points per game in the process. Over the L/4 games, they've scored at least 42 in all four, picking up a solid 3-1 record both SU and ATS along the way.

RB LaMichael James is leading the way for the U of O offense, as he is averaging a stunning 7.0 yards per rushing attempt this year. His 1,197 yards on the ground leads the team, as does his 11 TDs. QB Jeremiah Masoli isn't asked to do much with James in the backfield, as Oregon's passing attack only ranks 100th in the nation. However, the defense is cleaning up the rest of the problems, as the unit ranks 22nd in the land in total defense (312.3 yards per game), and 28th in points allowed (20.9 per game).

With ESPN's College Gameday coming to town, it will go without saying that the Arizona faithful will be out in full force on Saturday night. The Wildcats should be confident in protecting their home turf, as they have won six straight games there dating back to last season and are 4-2 ATS in the process.

The offense doesn't have any superstars on it, but the unit as a hole is getting the job done. Arizona is well-balanced, averaging 242.2 yards per game through the air (39th in the NCAA) and 186.9 yards on the ground (27th in the NCAA). Pair that with a defense that ranks 18th in total 'D' (305.3 yards per game) and 44th in points allowed (22.2 per game), and the recipe is ripe for a Pac-10 title contending season.

Last year's meeting between these squads was a wild one, with a 55-45 victory going the way of the Ducks. Masoli had one of the best games of his career, going 21/26 for 298 yards and two scores through the air, while adding 89 yards and three TDs on the ground in the victory. UA is 11-3 ATS in its L/14 home games, but Oregon is 8-1 ATS in its L/9 Pac-10 affairs.
